Day in the Life of a Kindergartener
Project type
Video Production
Date
May 2026
Location
Portland, Maine
Moving up to kindergarten is a massive milestone, but for a five-year-old, and their parents, it can feel daunting. Talbot Community School in Portland, Maine, wanted to demystify this transition for incoming preschoolers. They needed a way to translate the actual energy, safety, and joy of a school day so families could visualize it before day one.
We decided the best way to tackle the unknown was to look at it through a peer-to-peer lens. We spent the day on the ground at Talbot, trailing the kids to capture a true "Day in the Life" perspective.
Instead of scripting moments, we just let the cameras roll on the actual rhythm of the classroom: the morning high-fives, the focused chaos of storytime, and the pure energy of the playground. We focused our lens on the little moments that matter to a child: where they sit, how they interact with teachers, and what lunch looks like.
The resulting video serves as a warm invitation rather than a standard onboarding tool. It scratched a major creative itch for our team, allowing us to strip away the usual corporate polish and capture something raw, happy, and deeply human that helps Talbot welcome its next generation of students with confidence.
